Where are the ballet performances held?
York County Ballet’s winter production of The Nutcracker and the annual spring performance are held at Winthrop University’s Johnson Hall located on Winthrop University’s campus at 1920 Alumni Drive, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. For more information on Johnson Hall, Click Here.

What is the cost of a ticket?
An individual ticket for any performance is $12.

Can I return my tickets for a refund if I decide not to attend the performance?
No, all tickets sales are final. There are no exchanges, refunds or credits for any reason.

Are there discounts for students, seniors or groups?
No, all tickets are the same price.

Does my small child need a ticket to get into the performance?
Yes, all persons, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the theater to comply with Fire Code Regulations, by order of the Fire Marshall.

Where can I purchase tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online at yorkcountyballet.org through PayPal with a credit card or by using a PayPal account. Once the tickets are paid for, your tickets will be available for pick up at the Johnson Hall box office one hour before any of the performances.

You can also purchase tickets, with cash or check only, at two locations:
  • Monkeys and Mermaids, located at 355 Herlong Avenue, 103B. Click Here for Monkeys and Mermaids information.
  • Winthrop University Book Store, located at 2020 Alumni Drive, in the DiGiorgio Campus Center. Click Here for DiGiorgio information.

Tickets are also available at the Johnson Hall box office one hour before the show begins, if tickets are still available for the performance of your choice.

When can I purchase tickets?
Tickets are usually available online beginning six (6) weeks before the performance. Online ticket sales close on the Saturday before opening night of the performance.

Tickets are available at Monkey and Mermaids and the Winthrop University Bookstore, during regular business hours, beginning six (6) weeks before the performance as well. Ticket sales at these businesses close the day the performance opens, unless the show is sold out beforehand.

Tickets are also available at the Johnson Hall box office one hour before the show begins, if tickets are still available for the performance of your choice.

Where do I pick up Will Call tickets? When does Will Call window open and close?
Will Call tickets are held at the theatre Box Office located in the lobby of the Johnson Hall where the performances take place. The Box Office is open only on performance days, at least an hour before the performance is scheduled to begin. The Box Office closes when the performance begins. We recommend you pick up your tickets 45 minutes prior to the performance.

If I order online through PayPal, will a confirmation be emailed to me?
Yes, you should receive a confirmation via email. Be sure to check that all the information on the confirmation is correct. We recommend printing the confirmation page displayed once your order is complete.

Is my credit card information secure?
Yes, your credit card information is transmitted securely when purchasing through PayPal. You should see a padlock icon at the bottom right of your browser window when entering your credit card information; this icon indicates that the site is SSL secured.

Is the theatre wheelchair accessible?
Yes. The Johnson Hall Theatre has limited accessible seating.

What should I do if I need handicap seating for someone in my party?
Handicap seating is available for someone in a wheelchair or if steps are an issue for a ticket holder. You can contact us on the York County Ballet website ticket page to request handicap seating for your party. Please plan to arrive forty five (45) minutes before the show begins to be seated before the doors are open to the public. Or seats can be reserved for your party and you can be seated fifteen (15) minutes before the performance begins.

Are reserved seats available?
Reserved seats are available for members of the York County Ballet Guild at the patron level and above. We also will reserve seating for ticket holders who need handicap seating. All other seating is general admission only.

How can I get “good” seats for my party?
The doors open thirty (30) minutes before each performance is scheduled to begin. Some ticket holders will begin standing in line as early as one (1) hour before the performance begins to have the best seat selection. We recommend you be in the theatre lobby when the doors open to guarantee seating for your entire party. Please be aware that most shows are sold out. Therefore, seats together, for a party of three or more, are hard to obtain by twenty (20) minutes before show time. Please plan to be there earlier if your party needs to sit together, ie. if you have small children.

How long is the performance?
The Nutcracker is approximately two (2) hours and includes an intermission. The spring performance is usually 1.5 to 2 hours, including an intermission, unless the show is less than 1.5 hours.

How large is Winthrop’s Johnson Hall?
Johnson Hall Theatre seats 331 people. The main level has seating for 279 and the balcony has 55 seats.

Where should I park?
Free parking is available on Winthrop’s campus. Parking is available in the lot beside Winthrop’s Johnson Hall. Some parking is also available on Alumni Drive right before you get to Johnson Hall. Handicap parking, with access to a ramp is located on Alumni Drive as well.  Click Here for directions to Winthrop University.

Can I take pictures inside the theater?
Flash photography is strictly prohibited during the performance for the safety of the performers. Photography, videotaping or recording devices of any kind are prohibited during the performance.

Can I electronically record the performance?
Due to copyright laws, York County Ballet prohibits photography or recording of any rehearsals and/or performances.
